My Story
I’ve been dedicated to the art of the FIND since the age of six. Thanks Grandmom. Growing up on in a rural community we relied on second hand, thrifting and DIY.
Like Grandpop affixing an old office chair to his lawn mower.
In the late 90’s in DC I divided my time in development at a well known national non-profit while nights were consumed by words and music as a spoken word artist along U Street’s burgeoning arts scene. Of course 99 percent of my work and artist wardrobe came from the Salvation Army and other local thrift shops.
Like the tailored oxfords and leather cross body bags
Thrifting life continued on into motherhood and midlife as we moved to various apartments with smaller square footages.
Like the oriental tea table I found on the sidewalk of a packed antique shop.
Some say there’s a madness when it comes to purchasing other people’s stuff. I say there’s ease. There’s also magic in the act of reclaiming, of salvaging.
Like the giant yellow abstract piece I discovered in Mom N Pop’s Antique Shop across from my kids middle school.
Or the extra long brown MCM sofa for our first rental home.
Or like the two slatted heavy teak tables that serve as our night stands
Or …
For over 40 years I continue to hunt, gather, source, salvage, re-design and re-work art, clothing, furniture and decor items for my own home and creative life. My eye for spotting and discovering antique, rare and unique artwork, artifacts, furniture and clothing grew stronger. No label lurking. Pre all the apps.
FND ART serves as my playground and ongoing quest for the functionally weird, classically designed, and stunningly overlooked. FND ART serves minimalists, maxi-mists, and everyone in between.
Welcome to FND ART.
